Goodbye January (Jan 31st)

Me and Dad spent some extra time in the backyard today. We ran around in the snow and I chased snowballs. They are tasty and I can crush them with my teeth.

Sometimes I like to see what's under the snow. I dig it up and then find lots of grass. Sometimes I grab it with my teeth and pull it out into the sun. The sun and grass are friends so I like to help them see each other.

All in all, it's been a good month I think. January's are pretty cool.

Tag, your It! (Jan 30th)

Almost forgot. We got new dog tags. Me and Tristan. They are kinda cool. Mom and Dad got em off of this website called Rossi Pet Tags. You can choose several different kinda tags and metals and colors and fonts and shapes to make all kinds of stuffs. Here's what we got!

On the other side is all the stuff that will help us get home in case we get lost, like our folks phone numbers and addresses. Tristan is also part robot. He said he is part cyberdog. Kinda like the Terminator. He has a chip that will tell humans that scan him where home is. Maybe I'll start calling him Cyberchub.

Oh, Mom and Dad plan on getting me a chip too. And Mom likes bats. That's why I gots one on my tag. I wouldn't take anything else no ways. It's cool.

Re-design on a Dime (Jan 28th)

Everyday my Dad comes home from work at noon to feed me lunch and take me outside so I can do my business. Like pee and stuff. Stuff being number two. I just thought I'd mention that in case you didn't know what stuff meant. And by number two I mean poo.

Anyway, today I had a present for Dad. You see my folks had been spending lots of time rearranging the house and making sure I had plenty of room to play and making sure there's no places to hide or find things that could get me into trouble. Well I decided I'd redecorate my crate for Dad. You see the crate was a little boring. The cushion was flat. I decided to give it a custom look. What do you think?

I think it turned out pretty good. I thought Dad liked it a whole lot too. He laughed when he saw it and took a picture of it. He then let me sleep in Tristan's crate until Mom got home so she could see how good it was too. They ended up taking everything out though. Maybe it was hard to keep clean, I don't know. They got me a new bed to rest on that night. It's red and is really hard to customize. I tried a few times. I think I'll need Chub's help on this one. Maybe I'll sleep on it.

Post 8: A Walk and a Bath (Jan 27th)

Today we went for a walk at our local park. It's pretty big. It's called John Bynon Park. It's not even a mile from where we live. My folks tell me we are going to be coming here a lot so I can get used to seeing other people and other dogs. There is another park they said I will get to go to later where I don't have to be on a leash. That sounds like trouble.

Today we walked around the whole park and I got to bark at some people on bicycles and joggers and about a seven or eight other dogs. My folks said it was kinda cold or we would have seen more people and more other dogs there. It was pretty good for my first time there. I barked a lot but I just wanted to let people know I was here and that I saw them. I think after I get to meet more of them I probably won't bark as much at strangers in the park.

We stopped on a little wood bridge cause my dad wanted to take a picture of me and Chubs. We stopped and tried to be good dogs. I think Momma posed the best. She showed more teeth than us.

I kinda like how our eyes glow. It makes me think we look like alien dogs. I think it would be cool to be an alien dog.

When we got home I got to take my first bath at my new home. My folks had been waiting to give me a bath because I had gotten stitches last week when the doctor in Alabama worked on my bits and made it so I couldn't go around town and make a lot of puppies I would have to take care of. I'm too young to be having puppies. I'm only five months old. Puppies having puppies. That's crazy talk.

Anyway, I got my first bath here.

I didn't shake or cry at all. The water was luke warm so it wasn't too chilly or too hot. I got all soaped up and clean. I smelled kinda funny but my folks said I smelled good. Then I got all dried up so I wouldn't shake the water all over the house. I did get to shake a little water on my momma before they got the towel on me. It was fun. I had never heard momma squeal before. She sounded like she thought it was fun too.

I think I looked like a Jedi in my picture. It was kinda cool. Dad said I looked like a Jawa. That's not so cool. Bath-time pictures taken by the Momma.

Post 7: King Kong sez, Peanut Butter (Jelly) Time! (Jan 26th)

Today Tristan (aka Chubs) showed me what the Kong toy was all about. I mean, the big red rubber chewy bee hive. When I first saw it, I didn't know what to think. Tristan was just chewing on the end of it. It didn't look like fun. It was too tough to break into pieces, and you can't make a mess with it, and no one seemed to be yelling at him for enjoying it as much as he did. Like I said, no fun. But I kept watching him.

Then the next day Mom and Dad got them out again and had one for me too. It was in the big silver box that has cold stuff in it. Momma held one in each hand and there was a hole in it. Tristan went right for it and started lapping up what was inside. I watched him some more and got some too.

Peanut Butter. Super Duper Cold Peanut Butter.

Tristan seemed to like it alot. I tried it and thought it was pretty good, but not as good as him I guess. There are far too many things for me to chew up like stuffed animal toys (like my Wubba) that I'd rather be chewing on.

What's my Wubba you say? It's my soft stuffed animal toy (also from Kong) that Mommy and Dad got for me when we met down in Georgia. It was my first toy. Tristan likes to take it from my crate and shake it in front of me to get me riled up. I usually have to fight him for it for a while, and then I take it back and put it up. I'm watching Chubs chew on it in the next picture. What's the big deal? Why does he got to take my Wubba? He has his own toys.

Here we are both on the couch sharing MY Wubba. I don't know why we have to share, because it's mine, but he is bigger than me so I guess he can chew on it too, for maybe about forty-three seconds tops. Then it will have to come back to me.

Post 6: It's a Trap! (Jan 25th)

Dad stayed home from work on Monday to give me an extra day around the house with my paws free. I guess he wanted to make sure I was going to be okay. He took lots of pictures of me so they would have them of me when I was little.

The day was going pretty good. I was getting lots of attention, lots of food, and lots of time on what I've decided is my red couch, its the best place to watch TV in the house!

Then I got to go on a ride in Mom's car. We drove across town and I got to look out the windows at other cars. I felt pretty good cause not many of them had other dogs in them. I was pretty lucky.

Then we got to a new looking building (Asheville Hwy Animal Hospital) and went inside where there were other dogs and cats. That's when I realized I was at a vet! Oh Noes, it's a trap! That's where I was last week to get my bits snipped! After I figured that out I slinked around the vet's office like a panther. I don't know why I did that, but it was a good effect that caused a few people to wonder what I was up to.

Anyway, I got over it. Maybe this place would be better. I got to meet lots of people including an old golden retriever wearing a sweatshirt. He looked like he liked wearing it too. He walked around with his leash in his mouth.

Then I got to meet my doctor. She was very nice. Her name is Dr. Kendrick. She checked me over, made sure my stitches were good, and cleaned my ears out. She also checked my weight (I weigh 32 pounds). She said I was a little skinny, but I'd be fine on the food I was eating. She also checked my hind end. I'm not sure what she did back there, cause I couldn't see, but I did get a treat so it wasn't so bad.

They also gave my parents a couple kinds of medicine to make sure I turn out all fit and stuff. As long as it doesn't taste like dirt, I'll be fine.

My folks told me we were going to be back in two weeks to see how I'm doing and check my weight. Hopefully they don't check my hiney again, it wasn't my favorite thing. I like tasty food and being petted. Not hiney stuff.

I got to run around lots in the morning and afternoon in the backyard. Here are a few pictures of me strutting my stuff.

See, even with my giant paws, I can run fast:

Lost in the Jungle:

You can not resist my cuteness:

Look deep into my eyes... you are getting very sleepy.. you are under my spell. You will give me many many tasty treats.

Post 4: Tasty Bits for Me! (Jan 24th)

I don't think I eat too fast. I do chew sometimes. Other times I think about chewing. And that gives me a goal to achieve later in life.

Apparently my folks think I eat too fast. I guess they happen to have something against inhaling your food and looking feral while doing so. Besides, I only cough and choke occasionally when eating dry kibble. And I really wasn't going to bite Tristan, I mean Chubs, when he got to close to my dinner bowl. Sometimes you have to put on a show to be taken seriously.

But I guess that just isn't good enough for Mom and Dad. They want me to slow down and be nice too. Next thing they will want is for me to wear a dog snuggy.

But, they decided to put my food in a pan instead of putting it in a bowl. It keeps me from grabbing lots of food in each bite and forgetting to chew it before the next bite. I think they are sneaky, but they are just looking out for me. I think they used to know I didn't get much food before and I had to fight to get what I could get and eat it down fast. I'm sure as time goes by I will start eating slower for my belly.

Anyway, my folks and went out to get me some tasty nibbles (aka good food). Since I was underweight, they made sure to get me something that wasn't full of junk (filler such as corn as a primary protein source), creature bits (animal by-products, any biodegradable waste not fit for human consumption, including feathers, claws and beaks, yuck!), no soy (gives me the bloat) and didn't do bad stuff to the animals they fed their foods to (cruel animal testing). After talking for a bit, my parents decided to get me both dry and wet doggie food from Innova by Natura. They said it would be good for me and help me grow big and strong.

Right now I get to eat 3 1/2 times a day. Once in the morning by Momma before work, Dad comes home at lunch to feed me, and then I get Dinner in the evening. The half is the tasty wet food. I get half a can of it as a treat each night to get some extra meat on my bones!

Post 3: Husky Siberian (Jan 23rd)

Posted by Sevren | Posted in | Posted on 10:28 PM

So I finally got to meet my big brother, Tristan. He's a Siberian Husky that's just a little over a year and a half old. He's also big. Husky's are supposed to be around forty-five to sixty-five pounds, but he's a little over eighty, and he's not fat at all. Mom thinks there's some Malamute in his bloodline because he's so big. I'll probably call him Chubs. I'm sure that'll piss him off. He gets grumpy when things don't go his way.

Here are a few pictures of him. He's kinda wolfy and my folks think I'll fit right in. Me too.. except I'm not beautiful and dumb. I hope he doesn't blog and read this.

Mom and Dad got me a new crate with a new cushion pad for a bed. It's real squishy, like Chub's head, I mean his tail. It has a washable cover in case it gets too stinky (I like smelly stuff), and it's water proof just in case Chubs used it and wet my bed, because I would never ever do that myself. I’m not so sure about him cause we just met. I'm just sayin...

The only problem is we both have to share the same room, and he makes noises in his sleep. He’ll scratch his crate with his paws like he’s dreaming about chasing rabbits or something. Either that or he’s dreaming about being a rabbit.

Speaking of which, he eats frozen carrots. Supposed to be good for you and your teeth and gums while you are teething. I tried one and I’m thinking it’s an acquired taste. Mom says they taste like dirt. I don’t know why they are trying to feed me stuff that tastes like dirt. I’ll smell another dogs butt, or even drink out of the toilet, but I ain’t eating dirt. Some lines just cannot be crossed.

Here’s me and Chubs lying around and eating some little rawhide squares. Some people whittle. This is apparently what we do between episodes of Pawn Stars. Mom and Dad didn’t let me eat too much of mine, but it was fun while it lasted. They were afraid my belly might still be a little bad from where my foster parents rescued me from.

I like having people look out after me again. It feels good. Even if it means sleeping next to a giant Husky Rabbit.

Whelp, we met up at a big Pilot Travelcenter. At least that's what they told me. I don't know what a travelcenter is. That's where I got to meet my new family. They had come down from Knoxville, Tennessee to meet Leann half-way, so no one would have a sixteen hour round trip drive to pick me up or drop me off.

Personally, I think I'm worth the drive.

Anyway, my new family seems to be nice enough. They gave me lots of attention and had toys and snacks. Pretty good start if you ask me, but we'll see if they can keep it up. I'm not so easily swayed (at least that's what I tell them).

Here's a picture of them. Believe it or not, they even look more goofy in real life.

Well, apparently we make a stop when get we just past Atlanta. My new Mom's family lives there and we get to stop in and make an appearance. I guess they are into 'appearances'. At first I'm not so sure they dig me, but my boyish charm kicked in (as well as my puppy prance) and they were hooked. Her mom and dad, two brothers, sister, and their friends all approved. I got excited and did a puppy dance and left a little friendly piddle on the floor. I like to do friendly stuff.

I also got to make two new friends. Roscoe and Daisy. Roscoe is old and kinda grumpy. He kinda looks like a barrel with legs and only moves if biscuits are involved. I can learn much from him.

Daisy is a sleek black lab. She is kinda hot if you are into short-hairs. She smiled at me a lot. Either that or she was growling. There was so much going on that it was hard to tell. All I know is she drooled on my neck. Take that how you want to. I'm saying she was smiling.

Here are some pictures of them.

In case you didn't know Roscoe is the one laying down. He told me he was strategically waiting at a high traffic area for a treat from one of the kids. I think he was just taking a nap. Like I said, he's old.

Anyway, after we spend some time with them, we get back in the truck and head up to Knoxville.

It was hard leaving Leann. She was my foster mama, and had been so nice to me and my sister, Bella. Back then they called me Bama, cause you see, that's where I'm from, down abouts around Geneva.

Leann took care of me when I was a pup (i'm much older now, almost five months!). Bella and I were rescued from a bad backyard breeder that mistreated us. He didn't hardly give us no food or no room to live. We both got really skinny. I don't know how much time we had left. We also had the mange pretty bad. Trust me, it's much worse than just being Mangy.

But, that's where Leann and Happy Pet Rescue came in and got me and Bella out of there and into Leann's home. It's difficult to trust humans after we get treated this way, but she helped us start believing in them again.

This is a picture of me after I got some food in my belly and some medicine for the mites. I had forgotten what it was like to be happy. Mr Beaver on the other hand doesn't look so happy.

The next picture is one from a few days before I learned I was going to a new family in Tennessee. I think my fur is filling out quite well, don't you think? I tried to pose pretty too.

Today LeAnn drove me up to Lagrange, Georgia to meet my new family. It took about four hours to get up there, but we got to drive by lots of places i'll probably never see again, so it was neat.
